BJK... Benjamin James Knapinski was born in Western Australia. For over 15 years his dedication and love of his home state, and in particular the rugged North West, is revealed in his innovative range of pictorial books and prints. Until recent years, this vast outback was largely overlooked by all but a few photographers. Contributing to this void would take many years of sacrifice beyond his career with the expenses involved particularly with publishing. Ben's images are uninfluenced and boldly unpredictable ranging from very wide and detailed scenes, to smooth simple compositions. With the discipline of a traditional film background, he uses a number of specialised cameras and self taught techniques. Ben's talent extends further than panoramic landscape photography and he practices across his profession, including underwater photography. Ben does not believe in the false enhancement of his images, or in copying other photographers efforts which seems rife at a time when so many claim they are leading, award winning photographers. Today, Ben continues to refine his craft and fulfill his life long dream of producing pictorial books and prints on unique areas throughout Western Australia taking care not to expose or name areas that are sacred or fragile.
